Event Recap: Picnic Potluck
Each month, we host a free meet-up for our Zero Waste Chicago community. Some months we volunteer in partnership with another organization; we've also hosted a swap, documentary screening, met for the People's Climate March, and more. In July, fifteen of us met at Monarch Community Garden for our monthly meet-up, this time a picnic potluck. We loved the chance to get together to simply enjoy the season and spend time with each other in a beautiful setting.
We all brought dishes to share - we sampled a vegan beet tart, salad made from homegrown lettuces and flowers, summer pasta, quinoa with vegetables, scones, stone fruit, a berry crisp, lemonade, and more. We asked attendees to bring their own water bottle, plate, fork, and napkin to keep the event zero waste, and had extras on hand, too. We also collected compostable scraps in a small glass container to keep the event low-waste.
We're grateful to all who were able to join us, and we hope to see everyone next week at our August meet-up!
